Refreshing the Theater at Pittsburgh CAPA 6–12

Empowering Students Through Technology, Creativity, and Real-World Learning:

In 2003, Pittsburgh CAPA opened in our current Cultural District home as a state-of-the-art facility. Through countless performances, we have presented Pittsburgh’s most distinguished student artists and performers. Over the past 22 years, we have

maintained and even upgraded some of the CAPA Theater’s systems. Nonetheless,

two decades of wear and tear have taken their toll while impactful new technologies

have emerged. Technology-heavy areas such as sound, lighting, and effects are due for investment to. refresh and upgrade these systems.

VISION

To update Pittsburgh CAPA Theater infrastructure to an industry-standard production space that connects arts, technology, and career readiness for students in grades 6–12.

WHY IT MATTERS

  • Provides equitable access to 21st-century creative technology.
  • Prepares students for college and careers in media, design, and production.
  •  Strengthens cross-department collaboration and school-wide communication.
  • Positions CAPA as a model for production technology education in Pittsburgh.
