Rebuilding the Digital Media Arts Program

Empowering Students Through Technology, Creativity, and Real-World Learning

VISION & IMPACT

To rebuild Pittsburgh CAPA’s Digital Media Arts Studio into an industry-standard production space that connects arts, technology, and career readiness for students in grades 6–12. This is a professional-grade broadcast and production studio designed to replicate what students would find in real-world media environments such as newsrooms, live event production, and digital content creation labs.

  • Positions CAPA as a model for digital arts education in Pittsburgh.

OPTION 1: FULL PROFESSIONAL BUILD (PHASED)

PHASE 1: STUDIO CAMERAS, AUDIO CAPTURE, AND CORE SYSTEMS

  • Sony PXW2200 Cameras – broadcast-quality cameras that enable multi-camera video production. $4,000 (3) = $12,000
  • Sennheiser Lavalier Microphones – professional wireless mics for high-quality sound capture. $1,000 (3) = $3,000
  • Tripods, dollies, batteries, etc. – mobility and flexibility for in-studio and field production. $1475 (3) = $4,425
  • Audio and control upgrades $400
  • Mackie mixer, $1,200(2) = $2,400
  • Genelec studio monitors) - $400 (2)= $800  
  • Routing system (Blackmagic 20x20 Router) – connects all video sources across the studio and theater for flexible signal management. $2,700  
  • Texolve Integration &amp - Setup – professional wiring, configuration, and system calibration. $11,200

  2. Understanding of audio engineering, live sound management, and signal flow—critical media literacy skills for modern production careers.
